Coco’s debut album ‘Origins’ released in 2022 received a succession of rave reviews from The Strad, Gramophone Magazine, BBC Music Magazine and The Guardian, among others, and was selected as ‘Disc of the month’ by Apple.

In April this year, Coco and her collaborative pianist Simon Callaghan will be returning to Orchid Classics to record their long-awaited second album.

This new album is an exploration of Eastern European landscapes viewed through the intimate realm of violin chamber music, featuring composers such as Enescu, Janáček and Prokofiev, showcasing the profound depth and diversity of this region’s contribution to classical music repertoire, all while reflecting on the harrowing realities faced by nations in conflict.

It’s heartbreaking seeing the sufferings of so many innocent people caught up in the war which made me think about these pieces I have chosen to record.

The creation of these incredible compositions were both directly and indirectly impacted by the composers’ experience of war and sufferings.

Some of these pieces depict the horror and terror of violence, and some, seek emotional refuge by longing for nostalgic childhood memories seeking comfort and peace of mind.

Each piece in the collection is a reflection of its composer’s cultural heritage, personal experience and the turbulent history of the region. The album takes on a powerful and intimate musical journey through the realms of imagination, folklore, and emotional depth.
